I have a table with a field that will be populated with a number.  It has to be 8 digits.  So if  the number I have is only 5 digits I need to add zeros to the front.  How do I do that?  Nothing I have tried works.  Thanks

A number datatype should only be used if the value will be used in a calculation.
If you have to add leading zeros, you may not be using the value in a calc so can use a text datatype.

However, you can display a value with leading zeros using the Format function:

=format([fieldname,"00000000")

will display any number with leading zeros up to 8 characters.

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
