After I didn't plug my battery in in time I lost one file which I was just working on and it's not in recycle bin and it doesn't come up when I try to search for it

I called up Microsoft Support and they said it's probably because of the power failure....but only one file was lost which happened to be the one I'm working on.

It's an excel file and there's not autorecovery version of it, it's not in the recycle bin, and when I try to open it from recent documents it says that the file cannot be found.

Anyone know if there's a way to recover it?

Under Tools / Options / SAVE you can see where your autorecovery file (automatic backup) is being saved.
Everything should be in there.
If you have set autorecover to save the file every 10 minutes, then the most you can lose is 10 minutes of work.

2.
Restore the file from your backup disk (CD, DVD, 2nd hard drive, external hard drive, or a commercial online "cloud" backup system).
That's 5 locations where you might have been saving backups.
Surely you will find your file in at least ONE of those locations.

I think you have jumped out of an airplane with no parachute, and on the way down you are asking your friends where you might find one.
Plan ahead.

Machine Throttling

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Restart your system.
