Computer running extremely slow after escaping Startup Repair loop [Solved]

Computer running extremely slow after escaping Startup Repair loop

Original title: Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.
I know this has been made into a thread many times before, but I've spent all day trying to fix my laptop, and I'm just one more "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically." from simply giving up and smashing my laptop with a large hammer.
(I'm also typing this from a library computer.)

Last night, I was trying to install a game with a downloader from the website I bought it from (In case it helps, I was using the GOG.com Installer to download a 709 MB game onto my flash drive).
Unfortunately, it caused my computer to run extremely slow,
to the point where I thought it was going to crash.
To be safe, I shut it down and restarted it a couple of times, until I eventually gave up for the night.
I should also mention that I did encounter the Startup Repair menu during one of these instances, but
my laptop did work after the process ran for around an hour or so.

When I went to turn on my laptop today, it got to the "Starting Windows" screen, and nothing else happened.
I couldn't turn off or reboot the laptop, except for taking out the battery and reinserting it.
Each time I did this, I got the option of running
Startup Repair, which I've since run multiple times throughout the day.
Startup Repair would run for varying amounts of time, but it would always say that it could not repair the system.
I searched the forums earlier to find solutions to this problem, but
none of them have worked.
Here are some of the results of the last Startup Repair I ran, as well as the make and model of my laptop.
Hopefully, they might help:

I've tried bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot, but neither of those worked.
I even used the boot menu to access Safe Mode, but it ran even slower, and froze up again when I restarted.
Is there any way I can get my laptop back? I don't have the money to
send it in for repairs or purchase a new laptop.
I also do not have a disk of Windows 7, since it was already installed into my laptop, so reinstallation is out of the question.

Thanks in advance for helping out a technologically-challenged college student!

EDIT:
OK, I found out how to end the Startup Repair loop by reading this article:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139576-startup-repair-infinite-loop-recovery.html
That's the good news.
Now, my laptop is running incredibly slow.
I noticed two things about it.
First, my Symantec Endpoint Protection is malfunctioning.
It says that my File System Auto-Protect is malfunctioning, and it won't allow me to fix it.
Secondly, I took my laptop to my campus's IT department, and they noticed that something called GFxUI (a graphics card or video driver, according to the person who looked at it was taking up) was taking up around 90-95% of my CPU.
After ending the process,
the laptop was still running slowly.
Anyone have any ideas?
