Solution to Problem: Display Power settings are not saved

Display Power settings are not saved

Power settings won't stay as saved - Display setting always reverts to 3 minutes after re-boot.
Maybe I don't yet understand how the new Windows 7 works, but I can't seem to set my power settings and have them stay there.
I've set them to turn off the display after 15 minutes and put the computer to sleep at 30 minutes. But when I re-boot the machine,
the display setting always reverts from 15 minutes to 3 minutes.
Is there any way to save these settings and have them stay as saved?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi frankhad,
1.
Was it working fine before without any issues?
2.
Have you made any recent changes on the computer?
The issue could be related to display drivers.
Step 1: You may try to  update the Display drivers and Chipset drivers by visiting the manufacturer’s website.
Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 7 and check if that fixes the issue.
Refer the links below for more details on updating drivers:

Step 2: You may  try creating a new power plan on the computer, check if it works.
a.
Open Power Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
b.
In the left pane, click Create a power plan.
c.
On the Create a power plan page, select the plan that's closest to the type of plan that you want to create.
d.
In the Plan name box, type a name for the plan, such as "Giving a presentation," and then click Next.
e.
On the Change settings for the plan page, choose the display and sleep settings that you want to use when your computer is running on battery and when it's plugged in.
For more information, you may refer the following link:

Step 3: Create a New User account
If any of the above steps don’t work, then you may creating a new user account and check if it helps:
Create a user account:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account
If the issue gets fixed in a new user account, then it means that the previous profile was corrupted.
You can fix the corrupt user profile.
