Dear all,
I have some names below in Cell A1.
I am trying to count the number of times a name has occurred in front of the sorted data in Cell B1.
I guess sumproduct would do but i am unable to locate the exact formula.

If you have list sorted with Unique name which starts from E2 then put this formula in F2
=COUNTIF($A$2:$A$13,E2)  Where A2 to A13 contains your original data.
