Now i can't change anything from turning the sound on to running simple troubleshooting tasks.
Any ideas before i'm killed by laptops owner?

I would suggest you to try the steps try the following steps to start the computer as usual and check if it helps.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
Continue.
b.      On the General tab, click the
Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
c.       When you are prompted to restart the computer, click
Restart.

To check for Windows updates. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
